Top five countries for quality of life abroad revealedPost by Cameron Davidson on 30th July 2010 in Living abroad, Working abroad Britons intent on international moving enjoy the best life by moving to Australia, according to a new survey. The Centre for Future Studies and NatWest International Quality of Life index is an annual list of the most popular locations for expatriates – and this year Australia has moved up from third place in the list of the most desirable countries in which to start a new life. Shelter Offshore, a British-based website which promotes international lifestyles, says the country has knocked Canada off the top spot, largely because of its favourable employment prospects for incomers with the right skills, and the ease of owning property there. Following Australia and Canada in the top five are New Zealand, France and America. New Zealand’s schools are rated highly, while France scores heavily for ease of access for family and relatives, and America offers good prospects for professionals looking at international moving for work. Shelter Offshore said of the findings: “It’s good to have indices such as (this) Quality of Life Index as they are based on broad opinion, and from (that) you can perhaps perceive which values and facts are important to you when you’re looking for your ideal home overseas.”
